The Global Fund For Girls is the world’s first Africa-rooted global fund for girl activists and heir allies, resourcing girls resistance across the globe. It aim is to resourced in healthy and sustainable ways that genuinely works for girls at the unique intersections of age, gender and other identities.
The objective of the fund is to re frame power in philanthropic practice, showing what is possible when girls are put at the center of resource distribution. We reimagine grant-making practice so that girls can define and determine resource distribution in the service of their own visions, goals and dreams of freedom. We are grounded in feminist principles of solidarity, reciprocity and collective learning, we are reimagining what it means to hold movement resources in deep relationship and with deep accountability to girls.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Girls under 19 running formal or informal initiatives, including unregistered groups and groups without bank accounts
- Collectives led by girls and those in partnership with young women under 30 including cis girls, trans girls, intersex and non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth.
- Girl allies’ organisations and collectives led by intergenerational groups of women that have a track record of working with girls in ways that shift power. (for some of our funding windows)
- Organisations and collectives who demonstrate active participatory leadership models that include girls and young women in decision making. (for some of our funding windows).
