Data Engineer (Lagos)

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to complement our Engineering and Business operation team.

Requirements

Experience:

3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on building data pipelines and working with cloud data technologies.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in dbt for data transformation and modeling.
    • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
    • Understanding of GIT and CI/CD with GitHub actions.
    • Strong understanding of AWS and AWS data technologies (e.g., EC2, S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, DMS, RDS).
    • Basic shell scripting skills for task automation and Linux configuration.
    • Advanced Python programming skills for data processing and automation.
    • Experience with SQL and query optimization techniques.
  • Data Management: Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and database design principles.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD in data engineering.
  • Familiarity with pub/sub technologies like Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
