Communications Intern at International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) (Remote)

ICAN promotes inclusive and sustainable peace in countries affected by violent conflict, extremism, militarism, and closing political space. By recognizing the gendered impact of conflict and the critical role of women peacebuilders, we fulfill our mission by shaping and influencing peace and security policies through thought leadership, strategic advice, and gender-responsive analysis and operational guidance, as well as sustaining and strengthening a global movement of innovative locally rooted women peacebuilders (the Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership).

The ICAN team seeks a motivated Communications and Social Media Intern to support communication, research, and program tasks. This paid remote internship can be part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) or full-time and will run from March to June (flexible dates), with the possibility of extension.

This role will be supporting ICAN’s Communications Officer, who oversees the organization’s communications strategy, social media, and public outreach. Her role includes managing ICAN’s digital presence, developing content and campaigns, coordinating media coverage, and amplifying the work of ICAN and its partners. She also supports program teams in disseminating resources, documenting impact, and engaging stakeholders through storytelling, advocacy, and strategic communications. The intern will assist with content creation, social media management, event coverage, research, and communications analytics to help enhance ICAN’s visibility and engagement.
