Inclusive Education Consultant

In 2020, the International Disability Alliance launched a Global Report on Inclusive Education. The report identified several gaps and barriers that learners with disabilities face in education settings. The Global Report recommended several recommendations including full enforcement of the non-discrimination and zero rejection policies. In line with this recommendation, IDA is conducting a study to assess the extent to which countries have guaranteed non-discrimination and zero rejection principle in law and in practice. To facilitate this, the International Disability Alliance (IDA) is seeking an inclusive education consultant.

Role and Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Human Rights Adviser, the consultant will be expected to:

  • Review national laws relevant to inclusive education including non-discrimination frameworks, education laws and policies and Constitution. 7
  • Review IDA’s compilation of CRPD Committee Concluding Observations on Article 24 as part of literature review. • Develop a criterion of identifying good practices.
  • Generate a global map indicating the global status on guaranteeing nondiscrimination and zero rejection in law.
  • Design and develop a report on the global status of guaranteeing non-discrimination and zero rejection principle in law and in practice.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, including any challenges encountered and solutions implemented.
  • Review and incorporate IDA’s feedback on draft report and the global map.

Skills and Qualifications

All candidates must agree to compliance with IDA’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding policy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in conducting inclusive education research, with a proven track record of analyzing national legislation and policies, and their interpretation and application in different jurisdictions.
  • Previous experience working and knowledge on designing and generating global maps. o Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, French and Spanish. o Knowledge of communication and information accessibility requirements.

  • Daily access to internet and a personal computer.
  • Willingness to remain available on instant communication modes like WhatsApp, Teams.
