Her Startup is a program designed as a response to the challenges faced by female founders in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Her Startup is a unique combination of proven entrepreneurship training, seed funding, and mentoring to offer comprehensive and long term solutions to the funding issue of female led start-ups. The program aims to guide and invest in African+Women-led early-stage companies with high growth potential in emerging industries.
Program Overview
- Selection of Applicants: Her Startup will select candidates based on specific criteria
- Training: Selected applicants will undergo a rigorous 4-month training through the Founder’s Institute accelerator program. The program will cover training costs and provide an allowance in stages. Successful candidates will receive a certificate and will be eligible to apply for funding.
- Funding: Post-training, successful graduates of the program will pitch their business models to the Investment Committee for an average funding of $5,000. The funding will be in the form of convertible revenue-based financing.
- Mentoring: Funded start-ups will benefit from 6 months of mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs and experts, access to co-working spaces, and healthcare coverage for 1 year. This includes monthly meetings and support for ad hoc requests. Performance-based support for additional capital raises may also be provided.
